Government arts and science college (from 20 ) formerly Thiruvalluvar University Model College of Arts and Science, Thiruvennainallur, the first model college among the university constituent colleges in Thiruvalluvar University has its own tradition and stupendous achievements. It provides a salubrious and inspiring atmosphere to every eager aspirant who wishes to pursue UG, PG and research courses of study to achieve upper mobility in the society with sound career at hand. It disseminates quality education with time-tested values to whoever comes to its fold like a citadel of an ever-shining monarch. Ever since its inception, the college has been fashioned and fortified to produce many a number of success personalities, impeccable scholars, radiant –tycoons and notable statesmen. In short, it is a boon to the under privileged and downtrodden of this locality. Catering to the needs of all categories of students it aims at all-round academic development with humane, knowledge based learning and global outlook. The college had its humble beginning of 5 U.G. courses namely BA English, B.Com, B.Sc (Physics), B.Sc (Computer Science) and B.Sc(Mathematics) with 233 students, 7 lecturers and 3 office staff. The college had its modest commencement with new UG courses from 2017-18 B.A Tamil, B.Sc Chemistry, B.Sc Botany, B.Sc zoology new PG courses M.Sc Computer science, Mathematics,M.A English,MCom Commerce under the leadership of Principal Dr. R. Suresh M.Com., M.Phil., B.Ed., Ph.D, with 2282 students and 63 faculty members 16 office members in the year 2017-18. It aims at the multi-faceted growth of the students. Besides achieving academic objectives, the institution indomitably endeavors to shape the characters of the students which arc undisputable essential for the sustained growth of every individual.
